What to do if you have lost your pet

  1. Post your pet's information on Chippewa Valley Lost Pets website.
  2. Blanket the immediate and surrounding area with lots of posters.
  3. Use a photograph, and print posters on brightly colored paper, to catch the attention of passersby.
  4. Hang posters so that they can be seen from moving vehicles, and sidewalks, at stop signs and grocery stores.
  5. Hand them out to everyone you see.
  6. Talk to neighbors - ask them to watch for your pet and hand them a copy of your poster.
  7. Use Lost and Found classified ads in area newspapers.
  8. If your pet has a microchip ID contact the registry to report your pet as lost.  If you are not sure which registry you have registered your pet with, contact 24 Pet Watch at 1-800-597-2424.
  9. Report your lost pet to area shelters.  Stray animals are only held at shelters in Wisconsin for 7 days, before they are put up for adoption or euthanized, so check shelters every 3 days.  Contact all rescue groups and shelters in your area.

IMPORTANT NOTICES YOU CAN ADD TO YOUR POSTERS:

  • Please call even if you think you may have seen our pet

  • You can help by looking in any hiding places such as a garage, shed, under your home, or in wooded areas of your property, as he might be injured or hiding.

  • Phone any time of the day or night.
